Denying problems in PTE preparation

Surprisingly, students do not want to admit that they have problems.

I met a student who frequently confused the pronunciation of the letters ‘l, r, s’ while speaking words such as angry (pronounced ‘angly’) or houses (with no s at the end).

As the exam date was coming closer, I suggested that student to avoid saying words with these letters and reach 50 in Speaking. However, the student was not willing to follow that advice as it was an unacceptable choice. Probably, because of guilt that all others can, and I cannot.

Another issue was that the same student got 90 of 90 in the Speaking Practice Test from another website. As I had recordings of more than 70 PTE students by that time, I warned that the score is not accurate, and the student is more or less standing close to 60 but definitely not 90.

I requested the student to give the Pearson’s Mock Test at my place, but the pupil always had excuses and not comfortable that someone was constantly watching the progress.

All in all, the student had own plans in approaching PTE and did not pay much attention to the instructions.

So, whenever you want to continue with a tutor or trainer, keep one thing in mind and probably repeat to yourself, ‘I will follow the instructions of my PTE tutor strictly’.
